Director, AI Governance

 

Role Overview

We’re seeking a Director of AI Governance to work alongside our Chief Technology Officer to shape and steward our responsible AI practices as we leverage technology to support our mission. This strategic partnership will ensure our AI initiatives align with our values of nurturing growth, cultivating resilience, and championing equality while driving technical excellence.

 



Key Responsibilities

    • Collaborate directly with the CTO to develop and implement ethical AI governance frameworks that prioritize the wellbeing and empowerment of our community members

    • Partner with the technology leadership team to evaluate AI systems for potential biases and ensure they serve our community equitably

    • Lead the creation of inclusive AI policies that consider diverse perspectives and lived experiences

    • Design and oversee AI risk assessment processes that protect our members’ privacy and dignity

    • Build relationships with external AI ethics experts and stay current with emerging governance practices

    • Facilitate workshops and training sessions on responsible AI use for staff and stakeholders

       



Qualifications

    • 5+ years of experience in AI ethics, technology governance, or related fields

    • Deep understanding of AI bias, fairness, and inclusion considerations

    • Strong track record of implementing ethical technology frameworks

    • Excellent communication skills with ability to translate complex concepts for diverse audiences

    • Experience working with underserved communities and understanding of intersectional challenges

    • Graduate degree in relevant field (e.g., Ethics, Computer Science, Public Policy) preferred

    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with technical leadership and cross-functional teams
